Okay folks, you know I don’t like coffee, but when I use one part coffee to one part almond milk in a cappuccino, I can stomach it. It was still on the verge of being too coffee-y, but I survived. If you like coffee, you’re going to love this Bulletproof-style cappuccino! Even if you don’t like coffee, you might still like it. I did. (Or you might just want to try this Velvety Hot Chocolate recipe.)
In case you’re wondering, “Velvety” is my description for my recipes that incorporate coconut oil, butter, and protein powder into a super-creamy blended drink that will rev your metabolism with its foundational fats. You can find a picture index of all my velvety recipes here. These recipes are all Deep S for Trim Healthy Mamas, which means that they can be used during Fuel Cycles on the Deep S days!
As usual, feel free to add more sweetener to this drink if you like. Most people will probably want to add some extra Super Sweet Blend since I “undersweeten everything.” cue dramatic eye roll…just kidding… (I recommend increasing the granulated sweetener, in this case the Super Sweet Blend, instead of the stevia for a more balanced sweetness.)
Just a quick FYI – I’m currently in PA for a singing group rehearsal and I’ll be out of state for the next week, so if I’m slow in replying to you, that’s why. 😉
As always, check out the Notes section of the recipe for extra info. Check out the links in and below the recipe to see the products I use and recommend. After looking for a Deep S breakfast, I made your Velvety Cappuccino. It is delicious!!! I used 1 doonk pure stevia, did not add any extra super sweet. I did add 1/8 tsp glucccie (you mentioned it in Velvety Hot Chocolate). Really good, a keeper & a nice breakfast alternative when I don’t feel like eating much for breakfast.

Just as good as the Velvety Hot Chocolate! I used a tsp of Gentle Sweet, as I’m very sensitive to stevia taste. And works great with the immersion blender! Adding this to my regular list of drinks!

I can’t have dairy, what can I use to replace the whey power in your velvety drinks?
Thanks

Collagen would probably be a good substitute, although maybe not quite as creamy.

If I drink one if these for breakfast any suggestions on what to eat with it?
Briana Thomas says
Some sautéed veggies and a piece or two of turkey bacon? That’s what sounds good to me currently. =P

THis is great. As with most THM Recipes, I used only half of one of the sweeteners and I only used 1/2 of the cocoa powder. It’s delicious and satisfying.

I tried making this recipe this morning. It tasted like pure cocoa. I will def doctor this up if I ever do it again. Looks good, but not as good as pure bulletproof coffee, ghee, and oil.
Briana Thomas says
I’m sorry it didn’t work out for you! What brand of cocoa powder are you using? I just use a store brand from Aldi, so if you have a stronger cocoa powder you may need to reduce the amount.
KM says
For “coffee” ingredient…. is that freshly brewed coffee or overnight iced coffee? or just the ground beans?
Briana Thomas says
It’s referring to brewed coffee – freshly brewed or leftover. You’ll reheat it with the almond milk anyway so it doesn’t matter if it’s cold. 🙂
Linda says
Would this recipe work using an immersion hand blender? I hate washing my regular blender!
Briana Thomas says
I don’t see why not!

Briana tell Starbucks to move over you have created the BEST cappuccino I have EVER tasted and I love it so much that this will be my TREAT as well as deep S! Thank you so very much and I now look forward getting up and enjoying it, YUM YUM YUM!
Briana Thomas says
Haha…will do. 😉 So glad you’re enjoying it!

Hey Briana! Made this recipe tonight and it was so good! I even forgot the salt and the vanilla at the end because I was so anxious to try it! I am so excited about having this again! Thanks SO much!
PS. Have been enjoying the cookbook! Thanks for all the time and effort!! A+ on that one!

This was great. I doctored it with a T of cocoa, a pinch of cinnamon, and a pinch of cayenne to make it Mexican mocha. Loved the texture.
Carrie Willard says
Wow, thanks for this. I’ve been in the habit of drinking a breve cappuccino in the afternoons lately, which has too many calories. This is much lighter!
