Merry Christmas, all you wonderful people! I pray that your day yesterday was filled with the peace that only God can give through Jesus Christ His Son, our Savior.
I usually write some sort of spiritual post for Saturdays, but this week was quite busy and I wanted to take some time off over the latter part of it, so instead of writing something, I’m going to just share some Christmas music with you instead. Be blessed!
Light,
warm and heavy as pure gold
and angels sing softly
to the new-born babe.English translation to “Lux Aurumque”, text by Edward Esch
Following is my favorite Christmas carol, and my favorite rendition of that carol. “O hush the noise, ye men of strife, and hear the angels sing.” Best line ever. Except I’ve been told that angels don’t sing… The point still stands.
And here are my latest Christmas multitracks:

Briana, tho I appreciate the stand you take against halloween and black friday, I do not like all this Christmas stuff. Have you ever read about the origin of it? Not at all what most people think it is!!!! you can read a good article at http://www.simpletoremember.com/vitals/chrismas or http://www.hope-of-israel.org/cmas1.htm let me know what you think!!!!!

Yes, I’m somewhat familiar with the pagan origins, but those are not what define Christmas today. While Halloween today centers on darkness, as a general rule Christmas seems to be celebrated as something good. Was Jesus born in December? Probably not, but I’m sure God enjoys peace and goodwill toward men more than He enjoys when people raise a big stink about a point that doesn’t really make a lot of difference one way or the other. I think the biggest thing to remember is that whenever we celebrate the birth of Christ, we need to focus on that instead of the materialism that often invades. As a family, we don’t have a Christmas tree and we try not to focus an undue amount of attention on gifts. We do give gifts, but we focus as much on the giving as the receiving. We have a manger scene (with wise men appropriately placed apart from the manger) and some other more “wintertime” decorations to bring some cheer to a time of year when things outside look a little bare, but the focus is on Jesus, and music is a lovely part of that. 🙂

I love the words, “Light,
warm and heavy as pure gold
and angels sing softly
to the new-born babe.”. I wish I could post a picture I took of sunset Christmas Day at the beach. It looks like the sun was 2-3 times it’s normal size, and my thought was that it was the liquid gold of God’s love unfurling for people.

I love those words too, and your picture sounds like it fits them perfectly.

Those songs are beautiful, especially Chanticleer’s “It Came Upon A Midnight Clear.” Thank you.!
