These last couple of weeks, I have been craving hot chocolate. Unfortunately, all the trim, healthy recipes I tried fell short of my expectations for a good cup of hot chocolate. I was excited to see the Hot Chocolate Trimmaccino posted on the official THM Facebook page; I tried it and loved the foam on top, but I thought the drink tasted a little watery. I’m used to making hot chocolate with milk, which gives an added creaminess. So I experimented a little. 🙂
I replaced half of the water with almond milk (I heated the water and almond milk together in the same cup in the microwave). I left out the teaspoon of butter to cut down on calories (because I wanted to add some real whipping cream to the top for a garnish). Since I wanted to use the hot chocolate as a light snack before bed, I used half a scoop of protein powder instead of just a teaspoon. The star “creamifier” in my version is a heaping tablespoon of cottage cheese. You could still keep the recipe basically Fuel Pull by using only the coconut oil or the butter and using 0% fat cottage cheese. Adding cream makes this an S.
So….
Hot Chocolate Trimmaccino + unsweetened almond milk + cottage cheese = creamy, made-with-milk hot chocolate.
(This drink is gluten and peanut free if using non-contaminated ingredients.)
I suggest pairing this hot chocolate with these cream cheese brownies for a great snack.

I don’t see the recipe for the Better-Than-Starbucks-Hot Chocolate. I see all the other text and picture, but no recipe?

Did you read the text? It’s just a written out adaptation of another recipe, which is linked in the post. This blog post is nearly 10 years old – maybe you’d like to try something newer. 😉

Thanks for letting me know! It looks like they may have removed it from their Facebook page, but I found it here: http://trimhealthymama.freeforums.net/thread/2203/hot-chocolate-trimmaccino-serene-pearl

Did you whip this up in the blender before heating? (Thoughts of cottage cheese floating in my hot chocolate!)
Briana Thomas says
Yes, it gets blended just like a trimmacino! This is a super old recipe…maybe you’d like to check out some of my other hot chocolate recipes as well? They’re in a more traditional recipe format since I wasn’t working off of someone else’s recipe. 😉

I came across your blog from workingathomeschool blog site and I have been enjoying your photography and your recipes thoroughly! I’ve been doing THM for over a year now and had a baby in that time…I’ve lost 50 lbs and hope to lose 30 more. I was wondering if you could send me this whole hot chocolate recipe. I don’t have any social networking so it won’t let me go to the facebook page to find this trimaccino recipe….thanks so much! I’ve been craving hot chocolate myself:)
